There can be many reasons for a dog to shed or lose fur. The most common reason is flea allergy (it only takes 1 flea to cause an issue with some pets). Other reasons could be food allergy, infection, or mange, just to name a few! We recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible, so we can help you figure out the cause and prevent further hair loss.
Hotspots are present where a dog itches at the same spot repeatedly. The causes of the itching can vary, depending on the location (a lot of times they are found on the head or behind the ears due to an ear infection, or at the base of the tail due to fleas). Hotspots can become infected very easily and commonly need antibiotics to clear up. Give us a call and we will schedule an appointment for you!
